Making Holiday Hunger a Thing of the Past
Christmas 2022
Thanks to the continuing generosity and support of our donors, we were able to buy enough food to supply over 250 local families with almost 300 Christmas hampers this year.
Working together with Natalie, the Community Champion at Tesco's, we ordered and paid for a total of almost 7000 items that took a total of four vans to deliver it all up to Dorchester Baptist Church early on the Friday morning. Our hard working team of volunteers sorted and packed the items into the Christmas hamper bags ready for collection by families on the Saturday.
All the Christmas themed hamper bags used to pack the food into had also been donated by our local community. Various members of the public, groups, schools, churches and other organisations had supported our annual bag appeal and we had over 300 sturdy Christmas themed bags donated! That meant we had more money to spend on food and were able to give out our most generous Christmas hampers so far.
It was lovely to be able to welcome families into the church to collect their hampers along with some additional extras that had also been kindly donated by local businesses and individuals.
