All trustees have a current enhanced DBS certificate.
Karen Weir - Chair of T
rustees
I am one of the founding members of the DFS team and I have worked with children and families for many years in the education sector. I consider it an immense privilege to work with the wonderful DFS team who all care passionately about children achieving their potential and removing the barriers that can hinder them.

John Weir - Treasurer
Since moving to Dorchester in 1999 I have been involved in a number of charities including AGEUK, Foodbank, Hospital Shop and DFS often in the role of Treasurer. I am a member of Dorchester Community Church.
Kath Joslin - Volunteer Co-ordinator
A former teacher, I have been involved in a variety of voluntary organisations over the past few years. DFS is a group very close to my heart giving me the opportunity to work with an amazing group of people whilst doing something positive in my community.
Sally Huntington
Having previously worked with Home Start, I learnt first-hand how some families struggle to make ends meet and feed their children. I heard about a programme providing food to these families during the school holidays. I became a volunteer early on and am so proud to be a part of this scheme which has evolved into DFS.
Dani Colley
Having worked with families and children in a variety of different roles, I am excited to work alongside others to encourage, promote and facilitate the development of young people within our community.
Helen Weir
I have been part of the committee for several years and am now proud to serve as a trustee. I bring my finance know-how to the team and am passionate about supporting children and their families. As well as my role with Dorchester Family Support, I also serve locally as a school governor.

Alan Duncalf
I believe that we should all help anyone we can, in any way we are able, with whatever we have. I'm proud to be part of a team that does that here in Dorchester.
The committee members support and advise the Trustees, and take an active role in decision making and service delivery.
All committee members have a current enhanced DBS certificate.
Charlotte Storey
Charlotte joined the DFS team in 2025 and is proud to be on the committee.
In addition to co-ordinating Bridport-based youth project ASPIRE, Charlotte is a professional speaker and disability advocate working internationally to improve the lives of disabled people in the workplace.
Kim Huntington - Social Media Administrator
I am fairly new to Dorchester Family Support. I learnt about the charity through my mum who is a trustee. I help out with the social media side of things and take on some of the admin. I get excited when I see posts reaching lots of people and getting more followers because the more people we reach the more families and children we can potentially help. I am excited to see the website being up and running and learning how to maintain it and run it. I love being a part of this team.
We have a loyal group of volunteers from our local community that regularly offer their valuable time to support us in this work. If you would like to volunteer please click on this link.
Please be aware that due to the nature of the work all volunteers will need to be DBS checked.
In order to provide this service we fundraise throughout the year and rely on donations from local churches, Dorchester’s Foodbank, Dorchester Poverty Action, the Town Council, Dorchester Chamber of Business, Dorchester & District Lions Club, Rotary Club, Poundbury Residents Association, local supermarkets and many other community groups and individuals.
