Making Holiday Hunger a Thing of the Past

With 2024 well and truly underway, we would like to share with our supporters our thoughts about Christmas 2023 and our plans for Summer 2024. Despite various difficulties that we hadn’t anticipated, we were able to supply 250 families with a generous hamper at Christmas. All our families were very grateful for this help at a time of increasing prices and insecure work. This project could not go ahead without the support of YOU in our community. We are very grateful to the churches in the town who, along with many other organisations and individuals supported us financially. Many people gave their time to help with parcel packing and making our families feel welcome. One family remarked that they never feel patronised or embarrassed when they walk through the door. They feel as if they are being given a great big hug from their community!
Our thoughts are now turning to the Summer. Last year (2023), we limited food availability to 4 weeks as there was a huge question mark about the amount of money we could raise. This year we are hopeful that we can operate for 5 weeks but this is dependent on our raising approx. £22,000 between now and the beginning of June when the food order has to go in. We are blessed with a generous giving community so are hopeful we can reach our target. Any help no matter how small, will be gratefully received.
